THE BERG

hey ya'll! how's it going?
not gonna lie saying goodbye to H1 was probably the hardest thing ive ever done....but they made sure to help me go out with a BANG!!!!! i got my face smashed BIG TIME!!! and then it turned into a full-fledged frosting fight!!!! i love those people. h1 has robbed my heart and will have it FOREVER!

so tranfers.........

ROSENBERG ENGLISH SPEAKING. what the plot twist?!?!?!?! apparently they arent sending the mission enough english speaking sisters...so i guess i speak that language to...so here i am in rosenberg!! the area is HUGE and super diverse!! we live in like a complexy area..like mostly apartment complexes....but we teach in houses, mansions, AND we cover like 9 or so city/towns.....WHAT?!?! we drove on like dirt roads to get to my first dinner appointment with COWS AND STUFF!!!!! i feel like im finally getting a taste of T E X A S ya feel? like people really do wear cowboy hats and boots and really do say "im fixin to go down the corner store.." and stuff like that...WHERE AM I?! but i honestly love it. there is a TON of work to do and its just me and my comp in a ward the size of AFRICA...LETS GOOOOO! speaking of my comp...her name is sister schumacher (shoe-mocker) and she is from Scappoose, Oregon!! most diverse companionship!! neither of us are from Utah!! #westcoastbestcoast she is HILARIOUS and i love her already! she is very patient with my awkward transitioning from english to spanish....like prayers that go like "and please bless that their searts will be hoftened...." shoot. i got this. english is my first language, right? PRAYERS ARE MORE THAN WELCOMED!
im coming up to a blank because i feel like there is sooo much new i dont know what to fill yall in on!! ill answer moms questions...
WHAT is your new address?
1134 radio lane #216
I'm dying with anticipation wondering about where you are serving now?!!(City, suburbs, country, coast?) What's it like? well...we are a little bit of everything! other than coast...city/suburbs/country/trailer parks/ranches/etc

do you like your new comp, ward, district, etc..?? love my comp, ward is HUGE but i like everyone ive met so far...and i will meet my district tomorrow!!

Do you live in an apartment building?
Just with your companion? yes and yes but the hermanas live in the same complex! we never see them at the complex..but we see them at the church sometimes!
Do you ride a bike or drive a car?! we have a car...but im about to turn this place into more of a biking area....i dont know how to do missionary work in a car!! but i mean we will have to roadtrip the halfhour to some of our villages and hick-vills and then bike around!!

anyway...i think thats all i got for this week!! change is good! hard...but good!
have the best week yall!
paz y bendiciones

big ole ELEVEN MONTHS under my belt!!!! what?! better late than never to get transfered...

saying bye to my baby was probably the hardest...

new area

new comp

and this is sister montalvo...basically she is the BEST!!!

ps- i still get to take an hour to study spanish everyday so that is supperrr happy!!

TRANSFERED

FORGOT THE 10 MONTHER!
my time in the BEST AREA EVER comes to a close...got the call this morning and im getting transfered! definitely mixed feelings about it! because these passed 10 months in Houston 1 have been UNREAL!! almost TOO good! and that's why i have to leave i think...loving it all a little too much ;) havent really said goodbyes yet..but i have a horrible feeling that it's going to be pretty rough :/ these guys are F A M I L Y!!! and ive been through so much with them...but how about it's just a "see ya later" yeah? sounds good to me!! and i have to admit that i am excited to see what else is out there!! i mean where am i going?!?!?! i kinda have a feeling im going to get sent far from here...but who knows! ill let yall know next week!!
my last week here was nuts!! service everyday again....but we are making progress getting rid of all the stuff at "C's"<3 i really love this lady. no joke. and she is like a famous geologist or something too..what?
the most exciting things that happened at service were that we found three dead/molding/squished rats...and that a mover guy named Ted made THE BEST BARBECUE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE for us for lunch one day!!!!! LITERALLY THE MEAT MELTED IN YOUR MOUTH. SOOOO GOOOD!!!! ill be honest i felt a little bad the boys, dad, and clarkus werent there to enjoy it with me...because yall wouldve cried. promise. https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif
also...update on Alvaro!! we thought FOR SURE he would be baptized this weekend so we did everything we possibly could in order for it to happen...including having him come to the church to get the baptismal interview on thursday night....the interview lasted almost 2 hours and he technically passed with flying colors but told us he just didnt feel ready! so we continued to teach him and pump him up with super spiritual lessons and stuff....but he didnt show up to church on sunday and therefore was not baptized...BUT he came to a devotional that we had last night and guys...it was PERFECT!!! one speaker literally answered EVERY doubt Alvaro had and just hit home BIG TIME!!! i have no doubt he will be baptized this weekend (and ill get to come back for it hehe!!) and even though im sure it will happen...yalls prayers would be more than appreciated!! because even though we have the faith and do everything we can people have this thing called agency...so like...you never know haha
but anyway...i love yall big time!! this work is THE BEST!! yall should give it a try ;)

have the BEST WEEK!

I will NEVER have STUFF

hey yall!

so the crazy flood service continued in full force this week....i got pulled out of MLC by president who assigned me to serve at a house of a lady who is a HOARDER!!!! like im talking receipts from the 60s...food from the 80s....knee pads for a belly dancing class...underwater spear guns..400+ pairs of reading glasses...1000X1000 cardboard boxes and ever more plastic bags....and it is ALL covered in rat poop, nasty flood water..and black mold. WOO HOOO!!!!! and its hard because throwing away a moldy rat poop covered nail is like pulling teeth out here.."it can be bleached and re-used!" ok yeah sure...or you could buy a new one if you REALLY need it...

i guess thats what i get for praying to develop more patience and charity...Heavenly Father sure has a sense of humor!! because if i didnt actually love this lady i would walk away. we've only been at it three days and we are all going CRAZY! but we love her so we keep showing up. also i think Heavenly Father is teaching me a great life lesson...i will NEVER have stuff. like i want to get rid of all unnecessary stuff and never accumulate it!!! "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" as they say..right? RIGHT. fun perk is the hermanas that are working with us on the house got to sleep over at our house..TWICE!! it wasnt that fun because we were so painfully exhausted...but its the thought that counts right??

aside from that, ALVARO CAME TO CHURCH AND LOVED IT!!! he is awesome. bought a white shirt and tie and everything :) he is reading in the Book of Mormon and decided to stop drinking coffee and tea!! we feel super blessed! he is praying about being baptized this weekend...if yall could join in on the prayers i wouldnt even be mad!

the church is true guys...even if it means ankle deep in rat poop/neck deep in junk for the sake of one soul

OH and we found 7 baby rats...

THE F L O O D

so i feel like this last week or so Heavenly Father gave all of us here in Houston a chance to sympathize with Noah a little bit because holy heaven did it FLOOD!?!?!?! fortunately enough the area in which i live was not effected too bad and our apartment didnt experience anything out of the norm as far as flooding goes (like our parking lots turn into little lakes but thats nbd..) BUT we were asked to help in the neighboring areas that just got WRECKED!!! like i mean FOUR FEET of water filling up homes, a tornado tearing up an apartment complex, and gallons upon gallons of sewage contaminating EVERYTHING. so as far as service goes...we would remove drenched/bacteria filled couches/furniture, tear out entire rooms of carpet, rip up linoleum floors, and just chuck it out into the street...and after everything was out on the curb--proceed to sweep/mop/bleach EVERYTHING. it was unreal. fun fact: i had a razor in my back pocket for multiple days because ripping up carpet is my favorite thing...like its SOOO FUN! also..we had to take hammers to furniture because the water made the wood warp and in order to get the drawers open it had to be destroyed...probably one of the craziest things ive been apart of..and also probably one of the most rewarding! ive always wanted to be able to help in a natural disaster like this and feel sooo lucky for the chance to serve :) and what can i say, bright yellow tshirt+PANTS+masks/gloves=never looked better haha
since the vast majority of the week was devoted to flood recoop..proselyting was kinda put on pause...but we still did have a couple miracles and both involve someone named alvaro!!
on friday? i think.. (the days are all a blur) as we were driving back from service, alvaro (from colombia) called us!! he had a date for last month but we lost contact with him for like three weeks...but he called us and informed us that he had been out of town but that he would love to start visiting with us again!!
also, we were able to get in contact with Alvaro Lopez (the one from english class?) and he casually brought up reading the Book of Mormon...said that he was reading it and really enjoying it..when we asked where in the book he was he couldnt remember exactly so we doubted a little...but then he started telling us stories from what he had been reading and guys...THIS MAN IS IN ALMA!!!! AND WE GAVE HIM THE BOOK LIKE A WEEK AND A HALF AGO!!!
we feel like even though we werent able to visit a lot of people this week "proselyting wise"..the Lord blessed us for saving the lives of those affected by the flood.
the church is soooo true it kills me! tell a friend if you feel the same ;) and also do Houston a favor and kiss the dry ground you are standing on. please and thank you haha
Love yall!! have a blessed week!

also, something cool that our mission president pointed out to us this morning..."Mayor Parker of Houston personally thanked the Church several times this week because of your efforts.  We were also featured in several newspaper and television reports. More importantly we made a difference in people’s lives.  We found one disabled man who is in a wheelchair, and who sat through the flood in chest deep water.  When we found him on Thursday or Friday he had received no help since the flood and his home was a mess.  The missionaries who found him literally saved his life.  In total we had 2,566 service hours last week."

im the one in the army green pants..."the back of yo head is ridiculous!!" haha

also i love my ward so much. they are family. gave a talk and church yesterday and loved looking out on all their cute faces!! (post-church picnic we have...every week!!)
