lets talk about an easter miracle, shall we?
after conference saturday evening, we had
scheduled an appointment with our investigator who is planning on being
baptized this weekend (as in april12) and she wasnt home....we were super
bummed because we need to meet with her everyday if she is going to be ready in
time!!! but after multiple attempts we decided to try a new complex where a
less active member supposedly lived.....el no estuvo alla tampoco :/ we knocked
and we waited and knocked and waited...and nothing....so as we were going to
leave the complex we saw this guy sitting on a bench—so since we talk to
everyone and their dog, we decided to talk to him! BEST DECISION WE MADE ALL
NIGHT!!! kelson from honduras ended up telling us his life story about how he’s
had a lot of rough things happen and made a lot of mistakes but he wants to put
all of his past behind him and be a better person. he explained how he had
actually met other sister missionaries before in a park once, but that he wasnt
ready to listen to them...but he felt like we were God’s angels, sent directly
to him, offering him a second chance!! right then and there we taught him the
restoration and he accepted to be baptized!!! but wait...it gets better!!!
halfway through our conversation with kelson, his younger sister shelly comes
outside...so we do a little divide and conquer and hna whitehead keeps talking
to kelson while i start talking to shelly! being a fourteen year old girl, she
LOVED the story of joseph smith and after teaching some simple truths and
bearing testimony, shelly also accepted the Savior’s invitation to be
baptized!!! can i say p r e p a r e d or what?!?!?! i am stoked out of my mind
to be blessed enough to teach them and bring them the truths i hold so dear :)
i know it will be exactly the change in their life they have been hungering
for!!!!
also, i know its been said, but to steal a thought from my
good ole daddy, “i always love it when General Conference falls on Easter. We
always get to hear great testimonies about the atonement and the divinity of
Christ.” im right there with ya pops!! what better way to celebrate the most
sacred day (as hollland put it) than hearing Christ’s chosen prophets and
apostles bear their personal witness of our living savior?!?!?!? i cant even
decide which talk was my favorite because they were all just soooo good!!!! i
will say that that one guy who related the gospel to music and dancing is a
bro. his talk hit home! haha “i can teach you how to dance, but you have to
hear the music” i mean YES! THAT IS MY LIFE ON THE DAILY!!! it is crazy how
easy it is to tell when an investigator gets the steps down pat, but cant quite
catch the tune....as opposed to those who heard the music long before just need
a few tips here and there and they are cuttin a rug!!!! if anything, this talk
recommitted me to enjoy the gospel as much as i enjoy music...especially
because i cant really dance out here.....which is such a struggle...but i can
gospel so im gonna gospel like nobodies watching!!!!
i really hope everyone had the best conference weekend:
received answers to prayers, re-solidified testimonies, overflowed yalls
spiritual cups, etc....
