"ELDERES! ELDERES!!"

hola hola como estan??

so this week was a bit of a whirlwind, saying bye to hermana heckel-getting her all moved out, wiping the tears, etc-and then saying hello to hermana endicott!!! fresh outta the mtc and rockin it! hermana endicott is from utah and its shows haha she is in shock constantly by how different houston is  her desires to serve the lord and the people of this area are soooo strong! i love her and her efforts ;) my baby is a cutie haha

miracle for the week: we were riding our bikes back to the apartment when all of a sudden this lady across the street jumps out of her car and yells "ELDERES! ELDERES!" i stop for a second..and let her know that no we arent elders, but yes we are missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! she went on to tell us how she was baptized in honduras, but has been inactive for about 10 years...but that she would love us to stop by and have us give her the lessons again! so naturally we said of course! when we stopped by a few days later, we had an awesome lesson with her and her 16 year old daughter who, come to find out, isnt a member! they both committed to reading the book of mormon daily and praying to know if joseph smith was a prophet..

when we went back over yesterday, the apartment was filled with about 7 other people...so naturally we asked if they could all gather around for a lesson! one of the ladies wanted to prove us wrong any way she could...but we were able to bear powerful testimony and distinguish the flame before it got out of control..they all agreed to give the book of mormon a chance and we are planning on visiting them all again tonight! we have been praying for new people to teach so this was a HUGE answer to prayer!! i'd get called an elder any day of the week if it had the same ripple effect!!!

this week ive had a huge reassurance of how aware our loving Heavenly Father is of us-our individual needs, concerns, fears, doubts, weaknesses. the idea of being a trainer freaked me out at first, but i know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are helping me out BIG TIME! i feel 100% confident that i can do this. its not going to be easy, but im having so much fun!

my motto for the week i found in isaiah 26:4...read it ;)

four months and TRAINING?

happy fourth months with hermana ihrke!!

crazy news  and some sad news...

CRAZY NEWS
so i got a phone call this thursday...President Ashton.."Hermana Hull, the Lord has called you to TRAIN this next transfer, will you except the call" WHAT?!?!?!?! when he phrases it like that you just cannot say no! (of course i would never say no to a calling..i was raised better--mom and dad you rock;))
SAD NEWS
that means hermana heckel will no longer be my comp :( she is training and opening a new area! super exciting for her--but i will probably cry about it later..i love that girl so much!! but we were having too much fun..i knew we couldnt stay together for much longer haha

anyway......miracle this week? normally Hermana Cabezas drives us home from our lessons with her because they are always our last appointment of the day and they live about a half hour away on bike..but this time her husband wasn't home and her girls had gone to bed so she couldn't! we had NO IDEA how we were going to get home on time because it was 9:10 and we have to be in by 9:30...so we just prayed SUPER hard and pedaled equivalently...i may or may not have been chanting "si yo puedo si yo puedo" over and over as i pedaled harder and faster than i ever have in my life haha the chain on my bike popped off TWICE so we had to stop and fix it..AND we hit a red light...but miracles happen because we were safely in our apartment, door closed and locked, by 9:27!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Estamos bien bendicidas!!!!!! we are convinced angels were pedaling for us..because there is NO WAY we did that on our own!!!

other cool things this week...hmmm...we made homemade sushi and taught some guatemalan members how to use chopsticks!! definitely not something i ever expected to do on my mission...OH! another thing i didnt expect..HOUSTON IS NOT HOTTER THAN HADES ANYMORE ITS COLDER THAN CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the plot twist? literally FROZEN! no snow..but it is the coldest cold i have ever experienced because the humidity latches on to your bones and creeps into your heart! but nothing a warm smile and some hot beans can't fix! the members are taking good care of us ;)

I ALMOST FORGOT! remember Irvin? of course you do..the guy who is very interested in Abraham Lincoln and loves the U.S.? so he came to church this sunday...saved him a seat in the FRONT ROW because that is what he requested..he runs in late WITH A MCDONALDS DRINK IN HIS HAND!!! i was like "you bought that yesterday right?" "uhhh............no. sorry..can i just finish it real fast?" hahaha bless his heart.  but he made it into the Marines so idk how much we will see him anymore.. he goes "i swore before God to defend the constitution...so if i dont...yall gotta shoot me or something"

more stuff happened this week but im struggling to remember so i'll just send pictures and if that sparks something...we'll see haha OH WAIT! started reading "Jesus the Christ" and can i say MIND BLOWN!?! it is such an amazing book..i can feel my relationship with our Savior increasing more and more every word i read! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

have a blessed week ya'll! thanks for the prayers!!

mustache monday--new thing? just might be ;)

Mustaches for Manuel!

the baptism yesterday was the best experience EVER!!!!!! i know i shouldnt know what it feels like to be a proud mother...but when Manuel (the son) baptized Manuel (the father) i definitely had a "Awww my babies are growing up"moment!!! and then again when Emilia (the mom) and Manuel (the son) bore their testimonies at a devotional last night!!! THIS WORK IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST EVER!!!!!!!!! another highlight of the week was definitely watching Manuel (the son) practice the baptism hold and prayer with a member from our ward named Benjamen! dunking him in the imaginary font was probably my favorite part ;)

oh! okay if y'all would pray for Antonio and his wife Carmen that would be great...we've taught Carmen a couple times..and when we taught Antonio he was loving it..shaking his head "yes" the whole time--just soakin it all in. but when we asked them to be baptized, Carmen jumped in and said she didnt feel ready to make that decision (she is pretty into her Christian church) but Antonio said he loved everything that we taught him, how we taught, how he feels when we teach...mentioned how we have answered SOOO many of the questions he has had his entire life, etc..but he doesnt want to make the decision to be baptized without his wife. they are an amazing couple (with a new baby Moises--miracle baby--the one i talked about a couple weeks ago that we accompanied to the clinic to translate?) and i just know the gospel would bless their cute family exponentially!!!

oh! get this..so we are haulin down west heimer late one night, per usual, and all of a sudden this guy on a bike coming towards us starts yelling! i freaked for half a second but then realized he was saying "HEYYYY!! IT'S THE SISTER MISSIONARIESSSSS!!!!!!!" turns out it was good ole Eddy --member of the english ward that sings to us whenever we see him ;) he turned his bike around and proceeded to bike with us for the next three miles or so! love that man...

went to the Houston Temple this week!!!! it's amazing how if you prepare before you go to the temple, the spirit really teaches you individual and amazing things..i dont want to run the risk of saying anything "temple only talk" so ill just leave it at that.. when you have the chance-GO TO THE TEMPLE!!!!!!!!! vale la recompensa!!!!

love you all! thanks for the prayers!
paz y bendiciones,

HAPPY!!!!

Manuel is getting baptized this sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we found out he hadn't been drinking recently and decided to ask him about baptism and what would be stopping him from taking that step..he said he wanted more knowledge of the church first...Emilia (his wife) told us to ask him the baptismal interview questions so we dropped everything and whipped out the questions. He knew and bore powerful testimony of every single point! at the end we invited him to be baptized this next sunday and he pauses for a second...then looks me straight in the eyes and says, "Si, Voy a hacerlo!!" (Yes, Im going to do it!) YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It took everything in my power not to tackle that man in a bear hug!!! i am so so SOOO happy for him and for his family and how its going to bless their lives and others lives for years to come!!!! AND THE BEST PART IS: Manuel (his son) is going to get the priesthood this sunday and be able to BAPTIZE HIS DAD!!!! the church is so true...its unreal..i love this..MIRACLES STILL HAPPEN!!

okay..so now that im not exploding with that amazing news...remember Irvin? the less active that wants to be president of the united states?? so we go to meet with him at the bench like we always do..and he takes out his backpack..and proceeds to whip out a bi-lingual bible (nice), the Book of Mormon we gave him (sweet), and then....an 800 page autobiography of Abraham Lincoln...you could tell which one he read the most ;) but it doesnt stop there! he then asks us to interpret his dream...i politely told him that Heavenly Father doesnt always communicate to us through dreams, although we talked about Lehi's dream for a while, which he liked. he DID come to church this sunday and absolutely LOVED the testimony meeting and is committed to bear his testimony next month! vamos a ver!

oh..i learned how to crochet. and the lady teaching me (who we were going to extend a baptismal date to) doesn't seem very interested in the gospel right now, but we'll see! you never know!

read helaman 16 about Samuel the Lamanite!!! God isn't asking US to go stand on a wall and call people to repentance..he just wants us to live what we know and share it when we can...and he will protect us!!

hope yall had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!! love you all bunches!
