Another Week Down Babayyyy!

^The District^

Okie doke i am going to try to give as much information as possible in the limited time i have so please forgive the typos and what not! ill just use my journal to give ya'll a day-to-day play-by-play, sound good?

starting with Pday last week...after pday ended we taught our investigator and committed him to baptism. we started by singing him a hymn in spanish and it really invited the spirit! our voices blended into one!! also Hermana Armstrong, a roommate, cut open her toe on the sidewalk so i got to call the emergency line here at the CCM!! it was cool. and she is fine. so happiness all around! also the water in our house decided not to work so we couldn't use the bathrooms, sinks, showers, laundry etc so they gave us a key to a house around the corner to do such activities...it was just like camping so nbd! i was just like "elders please excuse my Mickey T shirt..."

thurs: ohhhhh my gosh so in personal study i have been reading the book of mormon in espaƱol and then english verse by verse outloud to myself and i got to the part in 1 nephi where it says, "esta parte de mis anales" which means "in this part of my records" so i was like okay, "anales=records" but then i felt like i should check in the dictionary...so i did... and "anales" means "anals"!!!!! so i can only imagine the look on my investigators face if i were to teach him about the things within the anals of Nephi! AHH! on a spiritual note, i then read when nephi says that he only writes things that the lord wants him to write and that he would tell his descendants to only write things that are of "worth unto the children of men." it hit me just then that EVERYTHING in the BOM is really forour benefit and nothing in it isn´t worth our time, so we should take the time to read what those people took the time to write :)

fri: another spiritual note! so i was reading the BOM out loud to myself in both languages again while my companion was in the psychiatrists office and i could totally feel heavenly father blessing me with the language! it got to the point where i could just read through in spanish with a big enough grasp of what it was saying so i didnt have to stop after every word and figure out what it meant!! i pray for the gift of tongues (el don del lenguas) every time i pray and it seems to be working! i feel so blessed!! during gym today i was just chattin up a storm with my hermanas, exchanging awkward boy stories and what not, when i see my district leader Elder Potter perk up...so i asked if he wanted to join in....and he and three other boys from my district jumped right in and shared stories of there own!! hahaha it was hilarious!

Sat: somebody was having a fiesta up on the hill outside the CCM because mexican music was playing allllll day and alllll night...it was TORTURE!!! i was like..can i please just go dance for a little while? how am i supposed to keep my hips dormant when they got Shakira bumpin??? it was a little bit of a struggle..but i stayed as holy as possible, i promise.

also today the teachers asked me to be a fake investigator while they taught in front of the class since i can understand them, and respond well enough. it was hard to keep up my fake life as "Rosa" while trying to understand their rapid spanish while coming up with responses in spanish...BUT I DID IT!!! the lord is always helping me...He is the sweetest :)
also look up the talk by Dieter F Uchtdorf "your wonderful journey home" and be sure to read the second message about the Language of Love...its my favorite thing ever.

Sunday: I LOVE SUNDAYS. my entire district fell asleep all over the classroom after church during personal study haha but i was like--if they are willing to sleep halfway in a cupboard, gosh darn it let -em sleep haha oh my gosh mom, the watch was a BRO again sunday night!!! so since the water in our house still wasn't working we walked across the street to brush teeth and wash face but when i went to wash my face i didn't have a hair tie because we are not supposed to wear hair ties on our wrists because its unprofessional or something...so i didn't have anything to tie up my hair while i washed my face....THINK AGAIN!! whats that on my left wrist?? just my all time FAVORITE PURCHASE EVER!!!! im telling you..watch buns are going to be a thing...i can see it now: "hey what time is it?" "idk, check my bun ;)"

Monday: hate to admit it but i got into a little bit of a funk halfway through monday...i was exhausted and bored of the repetition of it all but then i was like "emily. you have only been here for like two weeks or so...no time to get frustrated!!" so i tried to find ways to create variation in my cookie cutter schedule...for example: beatboxing/rapping the first vision in spanish to memorize it?? you best believe i got that bad boy DOWN PAT and have already recited it to an investigator!! (oh ps enrique ended up being our new night teacher..that little stinker was a fake!! haha good practice though!)

tuesday: woke up with stomach pain, dizziness and a headache..turns out i got a little virus that was going around. but i prayed that if i stayed diligent, positive, and didn't let it slow me down that i would be blessed with health and strength...and i was!!! Heavenly Father seriously is my favorite. He helps me sooo much! also totes ate dinner with Jessica...see that cutie everywhere!!

sorry this email is forever long but if you made it this far i love you!! hope everyone is having the time of their lives!! thank you for all the love and support!! I LOVE YOU ALLLLLLL

WEEK ONE DOWN BABAYYYYYY

ummm i dont even know were to start. i feel like i have been in mexico for at least a month but its only been one week! holy frijoles!!

so my companion is Hermana Kaiser from utah and she its great. at first i was super worried about it because i didn't think we would gel but guess what? THE LORD ANSWERS PRAYERS! she is a quirky little sucker but i love her all the same. super hard working so she is awesome at keeping me on task ;)

i live in a casa with twenty girls but only four girls to a room so its great! bunk beds are a thing and im obvi on top! i saw austin every meal before he left the other day...and jessica and i have meals together on the daily! kevin i see occasionally but not as much...its okay though! there are a TON of people from byu here too which makes it super happy!!! i would list names but i don't want to leave anyone out...so yeah.

everything is in spanish here but the lord is helping recall muchas palabras (translation: many words) to my remembrance! its the coolest thing! i gave a talk on faith
this sunday in my little branch...IN SPANISH!!!! how it works is they give everyone the topic, everyone writes a talk and the DAY OF they announce the speakers...week one full talk in spanish..chill.. but no worries i crushed it ;) people didn't believe it was my first week but i promise it was the spirit that did the talking!

oh! the weather here is PARADISE except for when all of a sudden out of nowhere it decides its time for a torrential rainstorm...that was super cool...wringing out my skirt was probably my favorite part of that whole situation...that and running through the RIVERS that the roads and sidewalks become haha we taught an investigator on our second day here for 25 minutes all in spanish and have been doing that every night since...it does get easier!!

the food is like cafeteria mexican so not bad but,.....i cant complain. the fruit is UNREAL though and i eat it like nobodys business! OH! one morning none of the water was working in the entire CCM and we were all like whaaaaa? turns out a bomb had gone and hit one of our pipes...i was like come on guys, cant you aim?? the spirit is tangible here and when we all sing....dont even try not to cry because our powerful testimonies via song could cause a tsunami!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH i have so much to say and so little time!!! ill just end with telling you about my district...all but one are fresh out of highschool and it shows haha they spent a solid half hour playing with their umbrellas and frequently set up soccer with a paper soccer ball in the classroom but hey, they try. they jokingly call me mom a lot because i have to help them so much and they nominated me as the unofficial translator..no pressure ha ha but they really are all the SWEETEST and our district is super unified. we are legit a family. gosh i love them, also one of the elders in my district is from BYU! we have all the same friends and remember meeting each other like once back at school so its fun we have that in common..wanna know what else we have in common??? THAT BEAUTIFUL WATCH YOU THINK IS ATROCIOUS!! HA! I died laughing when i saw he had the same watch as me. he also played BYU rugby and let me take a picture of the BYU HAKKA...you're welcome boys..oh his name is elder kevin sorenson. and he is from davis california. ill try to get a pic with our matching watches hahaha

okay i really need to go if i am going to have time to upload any pictures but i should have more time next week! also please tell people to write me letters because i have more time to respond to those!

love you all so much it hurts!
